OzHarvest
On Monday, 11 February Qantas and OzHarvest hosted the 2013 CEO COOK OFF and fed approximately 1000 people in need at St Mary’s Cathedral Square. Mr Switch Electrical participated in the event donating their time and was teamed up with Celebrity Chef to prepare a meal and experience a first-hand connection with those in need by serving food. The event raised $1M in 2012 and 2013! In Australia, every night 105,000 people are homeless. Of that figure: 60% are under the age of 35 almost 50% are women and 1 in 10 are under the age of 12. Homelessness is the lack of a permanent place to live. This includes sleeping rough on the street, couch surfing, sleeping at refuges and shelters. Over the last five years, rate of homelessness has increased by 8% nationally and a staggering 20% in NSW, VIC, TAS and ACT. All money raised is donated to maintaining food security for the homeless and helping out all Youth At Risk.

Fred Hollows Foundation
The Wild Women On Top Sydney Coastrek is a 50 or 100 kilometre team challenge on 1 – 2 March 2013 along Sydney’s stunning coastline, including ocean and harbour beaches, headlands, cliff tops and bush tracks from Palm Beach to Coogee. The Fred Hollows Foundation is inspired by the work of the late Professor Fred Hollows. Fred’s vision was for a world in which no person is needlessly blind and Indigenous Australians exercise their right to good health. 4 out of 5 people in the world who are blind don’t need to be. An estimated 39 million people around the world today are blind. Four out of five don’t have to be. Fred Hollows had a vision of ending avoidable blindness. With the help of the Wild Women on Top and the Sydney Coastrek, The Fred Hollows Foundation is working to make Fred’s vision a reality. Mr Switch Electrical’s sponsorship is anticipating in helping 6 people with unnecessary blindness. The fundraiser estimates to raise a goal of $1.7 Million for 2013!

Mr Switch Electrical also spread the word about the Fundraiser and a tremendous total of $2310 was raised for the Cure Our Kid’s fundraiser for the Team.

MS Australia
Every Year, Mr Switch Electrical’s team enters the MS Colour Run at Darling Harbour to raise money to fund services and support for the 23,000 Australians who live and battle with Multiple Sceloris every day. Our Staff turn up to the event wearing a white t-shirt and have to run/skip/dance through five colour stations along the 5km course around Darling Harbour and arrive at the finish line in a VERY COLOURFUL STATE!
